Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], October 6 (ANI): West Bengal BJP secretary Priyanka Tibrewal has written to the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) seeking justice for a minor girl who was allegedly raped and murdered in South 24 Parganas.
Tibrewal, who is the West Bengal BJP Secretary, accused local police of showing negligence in taking immediate actions, saying that the ‘abhorrent’ crime has sent shockwaves through the community and raises serious concerns regarding the ‘need for a comprehensive investigation’.
She accused It has come to my attention that local law enforcement has failed to act with the urgency and diligence required in such a serious case. The lack of immediate and effective action has left the victim’s family in despair and has raised doubts about the commitment of authorities to ensuring justice for the most vulnerable members of our society.
“I am writing to you as an advocate deeply disturbed by the tragic incident involving the rape and murder of a 9-year-old girl in Jaynagar, West Bengal. This abhorrent crime has sent shockwaves through the community and raises serious concerns regarding police negligence and the need for a comprehensive investigation,” Tibrewal wrote.
Describing the incident she said that the Police authorities failed to take immediate and appropriate action in response to the report.
She further demanded for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into the matter
“This incident highlights the urgent need for stronger child protection policies and rapid response protocols in cases of child abuse. Your leadership can help initiate necessary reforms to safeguard the rights and safety of children in our society,’ she wrote.
“I earnestly beseech the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) to act with utmost urgency in this matter. The protection and rights of our children must remain an unequivocal priority; your intervention in this case will be pivotal in affirming that such heinous acts will not be tolerated and that justice will be vigorously pursued,” she added.
The West Bengal Police on Sunday detained a person in the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in South 24 Parganas.
The 10-year-old girl found dead in a canal in Kultali. Police claimed to have detained a person who confessed to killing her.
“The body of a girl was found, after which there was anger among the local people. We have controlled the law and order situation. Yesterday evening the girl went out and when she did not return home till 8 pm. The family approached the police and lodged a complaint,” South 24 Parganas, Baruipur SP Palash Chandra Dhali told ANI on Sunday. (ANI)
