New Delhi [India], January 2 (ANI): Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has slammed the National Democratic Alliance governments in the Northeast for having a “sharp contrast” between the personal wealth of its chief ministers and the development of the states.
He shared a report of the Association of Democratic Reforms which showed that while 4 NDA Chief Ministers from the Northeast are in the top 10 richest Chief Minister list, their their states lag behind in Human Development Index rankings. He added that “Vikas” is only for the BJP.
“While 4 NDA Chief Ministers from Northeast India are in the top 10 richest Chief Minister list shared by the Association of Democratic Reforms (@adrspeaks), their states lag behind in Human Development Index rankings,” Gogoi said in a post on X.
“BJP Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is ranked 7th richest, while Assam is ranked 31st on the UNDP HDI index. Looking at the sharp contrast between personal wealth and state development, it is clear that “Vikas” is only for BJP. Is this the ‘development’ promised by the double engine BJP sarkar?, ” he added.
According to the ADR analysis of Current Chief Ministers from 28 State Assemblies 3 Union Territories of India 2024, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has an asset worth 332 crore. He is in the second position in the richest Chief Minister’s list. According to the UNDP HDI figures as of 2022, Arunachal Pradesh is in the 16th rank.
According to the analysis, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has an asset worth Rs 46 crore. He is 4th richest Chief Minister while his state’s HDI rank is 19. (ANI)
