Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 27 (ANI): The Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra launched an attack on Mahayuti government over a stampede in Mumbai’s Bandra terminus railway station, injuring many, on Sunday morning.
Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey said that there is no value of life in Maharashtra under the Mahayuti government, adding that the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who is also the in-charge of the BJP for Maharashtra has no answerability regarding the lives of the common man.
“Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey said, “There is no value of life of a common man and the poor in the state under this govt… More than 9 people have been injured. Is there any answerability of railways and the minister for this? He has been made the in-charge of the BJP for Maharashtra elections, he is staying here to win the elections. But, he has no answerability regarding the lives of the common man,” Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey said in a self-made video.
At least nine people were injured following a stampede at Mumbai’s Bandra railway station today. The stampede occurred due to a rush on platform number 1, where a crowd gathered for Bandra-Gorakhpur Express at Bandra Terminus station.
Describing the incident as ‘disturbing,’ NCP-SCP leader Clyde Crasto said, “The stampede at Bandra Terminus is very disturbing… This shows the failure of the Railways Ministry, Ashwini Vaishnaw. Lack of enough trains during the festive season and also a failure of the local administration has led to this mishap.”
On stampede at Bandra Terminus, CPRO Western Railway Vineet Abhishek said, “Today morning, at Bandra Terminus, Bandra-Gorakhpur Antyoday Express, whose scheduled departure time is 5.15 am, was taken to the platform from the yard, and some passengers tried to board the train while it was still moving. In this, two passengers got injuries. They were taken to a hospital by the railway staff present there and they are under treatment. Western Railway ensures the arrival of trains 2-3 hours before departure time at the platforms during the time of festivals. “
Abhishek said that the railways have provided extra counters for tickets, there are an adequate number of GRP staff, RPF staff, and ticket-checking staff, and they ensure proper boarding.
“The same was happening, unfortunately, these passengers got injured. Western Railway and Central Railway have already issued notifications for trains in Western Railway. So far, 2,300 notifications have been done. We have provided extra counters for tickets, there are an adequate number of GRP staff, RPF staff, and ticket-checking staff, and they ensure proper boarding… Western Railway is ensuring an adequate number of trains during festivals, and we are sharing the information through different mediums, he added.
Thane Central Railway Deputy Commissioner Manoj Nana Patil said that the train, for which the stampede happened in the Bandra Terminus station was unreserved, leading the passengers to rush for the train.

“This is a weekly train which runs every Sunday…The train is unreserved…The normal public can easily afford this train, therefore, there is a rush for this train usually…Our team was present here, but people suddenly rushed for seats… No one was critically injured in this incident…We are inquiring for the facts,” Deputy Commissioner Manoj Nana Patil said.
The injured in the stampede were admitted to K B Bhabha Municipal General Hospital. (ANI)
