Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 28 (ANI): Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Monday lauded the Maharashtra government’s Ladli Behan Yojana, saying the scheme has instilled “enthusiasm” among women, and public has made up its mind to form the Mahayuti government again in the state.
Athawale exuded confidence in Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party, winning 270 seats in the 288-member assembly.
“There is enthusiasm among the women of Maharashtra after the launch of Ladli Behna Yojana. The public has made up its mind about forming the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra. Mahayuti alliance will win at least 270 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly elections,” Ramdas Athawale said.
The Ladli Behan Yojana was introduced by the Maharashtra government in 2024, aims to offer financial aid of Rs 1500 per month to women aged between 21-65 with less than an annual income of Rs 2.5 lakh.
Earlier in the day, BJP leader and Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar reacted to seat seat-sharing tussle in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), Nationalist Congress Party (SCP).
“MVA alliance will not hold. The reason is that this alliance is only possible because the parties have mutual selfish reasons and there is no ideological similarity or commonality otherwise. Their ideology is opposition (to each other). They have compromised from their ideological (viewpoint) and then only they have been able to form an alliance. Such alliances do not hold,” he said.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with counting for all 288 constituencies set for November 23.
In the 2019 assembly elections, the BJP won 105 seats, the Shiv Sena 56, and the Congress 44. In 2014, the BJP secured 122 seats, the Shiv Sena 63, and the Congress 42. (ANI)
