Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], November 13 (ANI): After controversy erupted on Khyati Hospital in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel said on Wednesday that the entire incident is serious and it is not only a case of negligence but seems like a deliberate attempt.
Patel also vowed to take “Strict Steps” in the case.
Gujarat Health Minister told media persons, “The health department came to know that such an incident has happened where a multi-speciality hospital organised a medical camp and about 17 patients from a village were taken to the hospital. Two people died in the case and some are still inside the hospital. This entire incident is very serious. Strict steps will be taken in this case. We will take action according to the report of our team sent from PMJAY…It is not only a case of negligence. It seems like a deliberate attempt.”
As per the reports, the Khyati Hospital organized a health camp for routine check-ups. After getting all the details of the people who attended the camp, the hospital allegedly transported 17-18 people under the guise of further examinations.
On Tuesday, speaking to ANI, Mitesh Patel, a resident of Boris village, said, “A medical camp was set up here. Two days before the 10th, banners were put up, and on November 10, the camp began at 9 am They informed everyone that if further treatment was needed, they’d have to go to the hospital. On November 11, a bus arrived at 9 am to transport people to the hospital. In total, 19 villagers went, including both men and women. Out of them, 90 percent were completely healthy, yet the hospital staff used their Ayushman cards without notifying family members and quickly performed angiographies on all of them. When they decided stents were necessary, they inserted them without family notification or permission.”
“Two people lost their lives in this process. The hospital prioritised cash payments at the reception before proceeding with the surgeries. Now, we are in the process of seeking justice. We have filed a police complaint and submitted a formal request,” he added. (ANI)
