Bhadradri Kothagudem (Telangana) [India], July 23 (ANI): With the rise in water levels in the Godavari River, the main road at Burgampahad village in Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana got submerged under the river water resulting it to be closed down by district authorities.
Currently, the Godavari River here has reached 51.40 feet, causing the water to overflow on the roads connecting the village to Chattisgarh via Bhadrachalam.
District authorities have closed many roads that had been inundated in the area. The main road has also been closed by the authorities as the road has been inundated by flood waters.
On Monday, July 22, the water level in the Godavari River reached 48 feet at Bhadrachalam, prompting the authorities to issue flood warnings.
The Bhadrachalam Revenue Divisional Officer has also issued a fax message to the Bhadrachalam ITDA Project Officer, Bhadradri Kothagudem Collector and District Magistrate in this regard.
A second warning was also issued at Bhadrachalam and all officers are advised to take the necessary action.
“Godavari Floods 2024, Bhadradri Kothagudem District, Bhadrachalam Division & Mandal, Godavari Water Level reached 48 feet (forty-eight feet) on July 22, 2024, at 2:09 pm. Second warning issued; the forecast indicates further rise; all the flood duty officers take action as per the Godavari flood manual,” the Revenue Divisional Officer said.
The rise of river water in Godavari in Bhadrachalam is due to the arrival of flood water coming from the upper areas.
Meanwhile, the Met Department said that isolated extremely heavy rainfall very likely continue over Gujarat State, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra during the next 2 days and heavy to very heavy rainfall thereafter. According to the IMD, Rainfall activity is likely to increase over Indo-Gangetic plains during the next 2 days. (ANI)
