Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 30 (ANI): Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership has transformed India’s maritime landscape.
At the India Maritime Week 2025, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal said, “With the participation of more than 85 countries, 450+ speakers, 500+ exhibitors, 13 concurrent international events, and more than one lakh delegates, this edition of the maritime week is not just larger in scale than before, it is richer in vision and deeper in deliberation. It is also more inclusive in terms of participation, reflecting the evolving global structure of India’s maritime ecosystem. PM Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership has transformed India’s maritime landscape.”
He further highlighted that India today accounts for more than 10% of the global seafarers. “One in every five global seafarers is going to be an Indian by 2030. We are also expanding our footprint in cruise tourism, aiming to become the Asia-Pacific leader with a 10-fold increase in passenger traffic.”
On the occasion, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that a platform is being established that allows us to convey the changes happening in the maritime sector and the benefits derived from them to the country and the world.
“For the past 3 days, there has been continuous and excellent brainstorming and reflection at this Maritime Conference. I believe that through India Maritime Week 2025, a platform is being established that allows us to convey the changes happening in the maritime sector and the benefits derived from them to the country and the world.”
“The maritime strength that we are witnessing in independent India under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the rapid growth, and India’s new role in the global trade sector, I would like to thank the Prime Minister for that”, he said.
India Maritime Week 2025 serves as the Government of India’s premier global platform to translate this vision into action, bringing together leading stakeholders across shipping, ports, shipbuilding, cruise tourism, and blue economy finance. Held from 27th to 31st October 2025 under the theme “Uniting Oceans, One Maritime Vision”, IMW 2025 will showcase India’s strategic roadmap to emerge as a global maritime hub and a leader in the Blue Economy. IMW 2025 will draw participation from over 85 countries, featuring more than 1,00,000 delegates, 500+ exhibitors and 350+ international speakers. (ANI)
