New Delhi [India], September 27 (ANI): The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has raised serious concerns over irregularities during the voting process for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections held on Friday.
NSUI National President Varun Choudhary, in his statement, highlighted multiple instances where voting began late in several colleges and was significantly slowed down, raising doubts about the integrity of the election process.
“We had already pointed out in our press conference that the Delhi University Administration is working under pressure from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Today’s events have only confirmed our fears. The deliberate delay in starting the voting process and the slow voting system indicate foul play designed to benefit ABVP,” Choudhary said.
The NSUI has also demanded transparency in the next steps of the electoral process, specifically regarding the storage and handling of the EVM (Electronic Voting Machines).
“We demand that the Delhi University Administration and the Chief Election Officer of DUSU provide us with a live streaming link of the strong room where the EVM machines are being kept. This will ensure transparency and fairness in the counting process,” Choudhary added.
NSUI stands firm in its commitment to safeguarding the democratic rights of students and will not tolerate any attempts to manipulate the election process. The organization has called for immediate action from the authorities to ensure that no further discrepancies occur and that the students’ votes are respected. (ANI)
