New Delhi [India], July 27 (ANI): Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Saturday deferred the order on the cancellation report filed by the Delhi Police against former WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Singh in a POCSO case .
This case was lodged based on a complaint filed by a minor female wrestler. Delhi Police had filed a cancellation report after the victim retracted from her earlier statement.
Special (POCSO) Judge Chhavi Kapoor deferred the order for September 27. The matter was deferred due to the Lawyer’s Association’s call to restrain from work on Saturday.
On August 1, 2023, the court reserved its order on the cancellation report after noting the response of the minor wrestler and her father. They did not oppose the cancellation report.
The minor wrestler and her father had appeared before the court and said that they were satisfied with the investigation of Delhi Ppolice, Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava told the media. He also said that the daughter and her father did not oppose the cancellation report filed by the Delhi police.
Delhi Police filed a cancellation report on June 15, 2023, in the POCSO case against Singh. Thereafter, Patiala House Court on July 4 issued notice to the complainant/her father.
Delhi police on June 15 filed a cancellation report in Patiala House Court in the case filed against former WFI chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. This case was filed under the POCSO Act on a complaint by a minor wrestler.
The report contains more than 500 pages.
A charge sheet was also filed in Rouse Avenue Court in a sexual harassment case against Singh and Vinod Tomar. The Rouse Avenue court has ordered to frame charges against Singh and Tomar. On July 11, the court directed the trial to begin and the prosecution witnesses’ statements to be recorded in the alleged sexual harassment case against former MP and ex WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan and Vinod Tomar.
In both matters, Delhi Police officials said that in the FIR registered by the wrestlers, after completion of the investigation, we are filing a chargesheet for the offences under sections 354, 354A and 354D of the IPC against accused Brijbhushan Sharan Singh and for offences under sections109/ 354/354A/506 IPC against accused Vinod Tomar before the Rouse Avenue Court, said Suman Nalwa, PRO, Delhi Police.
