Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 17 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha on Thursday accused Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of “gifting” the water of Gadavari River to Andhra Pradesh, during a meeting with CM Chandrababu Naidu and Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil.
K Kavitha demanded the resignation of Revanth Reddy, saying that a CM “who failed to protect the rights of our people does not belong in that chair.”
“He sat through the meeting, and unfortunately, he gifted the Godavari water, which truly belongs to the people of Telangana, to Chandrababu Naidu. I condemn this act of our Chief Minister…A Chief Minister who failed to protect the rights of our people does not belong in that chair. We demand that he immediately resign”
Kavitha scathing remark on Telangana CM came after a meeting was held on Wednesday at the Ministry of Jal Shakti between the Union Minister of Jal Shakti C R Patil, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy and Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu to address the water-related issues between the two states.
During the meeting key issues concerning water management were deliberated upon. Both states agreed on the installation of telemetry devices for real time monitoring of water flows in the Krishna Basin, a Jal Shakti Ministry release said.
A release from Telangana CMO stated that both sides agreed to allocate the Godavari River Management Board in Hyderabad and the Krishna RMB in Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh acceded to Telangana proposal to repair the prestigious Srisailam project immediately.
To address the remaining issues in a comprehensive and technical manner, it was decided to constitute a committee comprising senior officials and technical experts from both states and the central government. This committee will work collaboratively to study the outstanding concerns and suggest viable solutions to ensure equitable and efficient water sharing, Jal Shakti Ministry said in the release
The Ministry of Jal Shakti reaffirmed its commitment to fostering cooperation between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and facilitating sustainable water management practices for the benefit of the people of both states. (ANI)
