INDIA bloc’s bandh: Classes for school students till standard 8 suspended in Puducherry – World News Network

Puducherry [India], September 18 (ANI): Puducherry Directorate of School Education, Higher Secondary Wing has, announced a holiday for classes first to eight of government and private schools on Wednesday.
Classes for standards 9 to 12 would continue as usual, it said.

The announcement was made folowing the announcement by INDI alliance against the ruling BJP-NR Congress coalition government seeking the cancellation of hikes in electricity tariff in Puducherry.
A complete blockade protest is being held here from 6 am to 6 pm on behalf of the INDI alliance against the BJP-Congress coalition government.
The ruling NR Congress party had earlier insisted on the demands of cancelling the increase in electricity tariff, abolishing surcharges in the tariff, no privatisation of the electricity sector and abandoning the digital electricity meter project.
Government and private buses and autos will not be running during the blockade. Additionally, heavy police security will also be present.
Shops in the rural areas including Kuber Angadi, Nehru Road, Anna Road, Karamalaiyadigal Road, Kamaraj Road have also been closed. All daytime shows in theatres have also been cancelled.
meanwile, the INDIA bloc is also protesting against the rise of electricity charges in areas including Thiramalaiadigal Road, Kamaraj Statue Junction, Indira Gandhi Square and Rajiv Gandhi Square.
The power tariff in the households has led to charges rising from 40 paise to 75 paise per unit. (ANI)
