New Delhi [India], September 29 (ANI): Ahead of the Haryana Assembly polls, Congress on Sunday expelled its two leaders for six years for indulging in anti-party activities.
As per an official letter, Virender Gogria and Somvir Ghasola have been suspended with immediate effect for six years.
“Consequent upon the receipt of reports through various means of communication pertaining to party leaders having found indulged in anti-party activities by fighting the ongoing assembly election against the parts candidates and to curb indiscipline in the party, the following persons are hereby expelled from the party for 6 years with immediate effect,” the letter said.
On September 27, Congress suspended its 13 leaders for six years for anti-party activity.
Among the leaders who were expelled is Sajjan Singh Dhull, the former candidate from the Pundri and Pai Legislative Assembly, who joined Congress last year in December.
In an official notification, the Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee said it received reports that these party leaders/workers were indulging in anti-party activities by fighting the ongoing assembly election against the party candidates.
On September 28, state Congress Chief Chief Udai Bhan sought stern action against nine party rebels who are contesting against the party’s official nominees or supporting candidates of other parties.
In a letter to Manoj Chauhan, AICC secretary and co-incharge of Haryana, Udai Bhan said the party rebels have indulged in “anti-party activities.”
The letter recommended the expulsion of Sharda Rathore, Rohita Revri, Satbir Bhana, Rajkumar Valimiki, Kapoor Narwal, Virender Gogdia, Harsh Kumar, Lalit Nagar, and Satbir Ratera.
He said the rebels “are indulging in anti-party activities either by way of supporting the other party candidates or fighting themselves as a rebel by maligning the party image”.
Bhan said these persons should be expelled for six years in order to “curb the indiscipline in the party.”
Haryana goes to the polls on October 5 to elect a 90-member state legislative assembly to form its next government, with the counting set to take place on October 8.
In 2019, the BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 40 seats. Congress won 30 seats. (ANI)
