New Delhi [India], October 21 (ANI): The Delhi government has decided to establish special courts for people with disabilities in a significant move towards ensuring timely and accessible justice for them.
As per an official release, the initiative has been approved by Chief Minister Atishi.
Sharing details about the decision, CM Atishi said, “This is a historic step by the Delhi government towards ensuring justice for people with disabilities. By approving the establishment of special courts, we are taking a crucial step towards reforming the judicial system to better serve the interests of people with disabilities.”
She said that the decision will help alleviate the challenges faced by people with disabilities in accessing justice and will ensure that they receive fair and swift justice.
Highlighting the importance of this initiative in the context of judicial reforms in Delhi, CM Atishi stated, “People with disabilities are an integral part of our society, and we must protect their rights. The establishment of special courts will alleviate any difficulties they face in the judicial process and will strengthen their trust in the justice system.”
The formation of special courts is expected to speed up the process of resolving cases involving people with disabilities, thereby avoiding unnecessary delays and complexities. The courts will be designed to accommodate the specific needs of individuals with disabilities, ensuring that judicial proceedings are conducted in an inclusive manner.
“Through these special courts, we will ensure that no person with a disability is deprived of justice. Simplifying and making the judicial process more accessible for them is our priority.”
She described this decision as a historic step in the direction of judicial reforms, stating, “These special courts will not only protect the interests of people with disabilities but will also open new avenues for equality and justice in society. The Delhi government is committed to safeguarding the rights of people with disabilities, and these special courts are a crucial initiative in that direction.” (ANI)
