Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 1 (ANI): The Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP has set a target to enrol 1 crore members within 45 days, by October 15, H Raja said, who is leading the party in the state while K Annamalai, the state president, is on a trip to the UK.
The Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP has fixed a target of 1 crore members to be enrolled within 45 days up to October 15, said H Raja, who heads the committee to steer the party in the state till K Annamalai, the State president of the party, returns from the UK.
“Already many programs have been planned and it is going on according to the plan. The major work is the renewal of already existing members and then enrolling new members. We have fixed a target of 1 crore members to be enrolled within 45 days up to October 15. Apart from that, other political activities would go normally,” Raja told ANI.
Reacting to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s US visit, Raja said that it is important to see the MoUs signed will translate into real investments on the ground.
“Let the chief minister of Tamil Nadu say what happened after his Dubai visit. How many thousands of crores have been invested in Tamil Nadu because of his visit? Has anything happened? Nothing. So like that today MoUs may be coming, let us see if actual investment comes,” he said.
During Stalin’s US visit, the Tamil Nadu government signed several MoUs with multinational companies pledging crores of investment in the state.
H Raja was appointed the convener of a 6-member committee, during the absence of the state party president K Annamalai, to lead the party in Tamil Nadu.
The 6-member committee was appointed by BJP President JP Nadda.
K Annamalai is on a three-month educational training programme in the UK from September.
The coordination committee will discuss with the state core committee and make any decisions about the party’s activities. (ANI)
