Assam Police apprehends 1 Bangladeshi national, 3 Indian nationals in alleged cattle smuggling – World News Network

Nagaon (Assam) [India], August 8 (ANI): The Assam Police on Thursday arrested a Bangladeshi national and three Indian nationals for their alleged involvement in cattle smuggling in Assam’s Nagaon district.
The arrested Bangladeshi National was identified as Humayun Kabir of Sylhet (Bangladesh) and the other three Indian nationals were identified as Motibur Rahman, Abul Hussain, and Makbul Hussain, said the police officials.

While talking to ANI, Swapnaneel Deka, Superintendent of Police of Nagaon district said, “Yesterday evening we got an input that, one Bangladeshi national along with three other Indian nationals roaming in a cattle market at Dhing area and accordingly police apprehended all four persons.”
“During the interrogation, we came to know that, Humayun Kabir is a Bangladeshi national who entered India on August 4 from the Dawki area of Meghalaya. He doesn’t have any passport or legal documents to travel to India. During interrogation, he confessed that he travelled to Shillong, halted a night at Shillong, and came to Nagaon,” said the Superintendent.

“Three persons from the Nagaon district received the Bangladeshi national at Borghat area in Nagaon district and took him to their residence at Khatowal. Yesterday evening, they were roaming at Dhing cattle market area to purchase cows,” the SP of Nagaon district added.
The senior police official also said that these persons are involved in cattle smuggling.
Meanwhile, two cases including a case of Foreigners Act have been registered at Dhing police station and further investigation is underway. (ANI)
