New Delhi [India], December 20 (ANI): Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Thursday condemned the scuffle that took place in Parliament, stating that while ideological differences are part of democracy, physical violence is unacceptable.
Addressing the media, Shekhawat said, “There can be ideological differences in democracy, but injuring someone physically is strongly condemnable.”
He added that the Congress Party and Rahul Gandhi should apologise for the incident and further emphasised that the Congress Party and its leaders have always believed they are above the law and the Constitution. “They always considered themselves above the law and constitution and the country as their fiefdom…Congress and Rahul Gandhi should apologise for this,” he said.
The minister pointed out that the entire incident was likely captured on CCTV and that the truth would be clear once the footage is made public.
“Everything that happened must have been recorded in the CCTV, and the truth will be revealed once the videos come out,” he stated.
Meanwhile, amid the scuffle that broke out at the parliament, BJP MP Anurag Thakur launched a scathing attack on Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of disregarding the law, driven by his perceived arrogance and sense of being above the law.
Thakur, along with fellow MPs Bansuri Swaraj and Hemang Joshi, filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi at the Parliament Street Police Station. The complaint, under Sections 109, 115, 117, 125, 131, and 351 of the IPC, accused Rahul Gandhi of injuring BJP MPs by pushing them.
According to Thakur, the BJP MPs were peacefully protesting when Gandhi and other opposition leaders stormed the area, leading to physical aggression. He claimed that Gandhi’s actions were “deliberate and malicious,” resulting in injuries to BJP MPs Mukesh Rajput and Pratap Chandra Sarangi.
On Thursday morning, the Parliament witnessed parallel protests from both the Treasury and Opposition benches outside Parliament. The ruling BJP MPs were protesting in the Parliament’s premises against the Congress party for “insulting” Babasaheb Ambedkar. INDIA Bloc MPs led by Rahul Gandhi held a protest on Thursday in the Parliament premises and demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his remarks on Babasaheb Ambedkar. (ANI)
