Lakhisarai (Bihar) [India], December 7 (ANI): Launching fresh attacks on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said on Saturday that the future of the youth is being jeopardized and questioned what has Bihar gained despite a ‘double-engine government’ running in the state.
Addressing a press conference here in Lakhisarai today, the former Deputy Chief Minister highlighted Bihar police’s action against Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants protesting against the normalisation process.
“Yesterday, we witnessed extreme brutality as BPSC students were beaten. They had been seeking clarification for several days, but only after the violence did they get a response from the commission. The Chief Minister oversees the Home Department and the police, and this happened at his direction. This is a serious matter. For three days, the server was down, preventing thousands of students from submitting their forms. Law and order in Bihar are deteriorating,” he said.
BPSC aspirants demanded that exams be held in ‘One Shift and One Paper’ to avoid the normalisation process.
“The future of the youth is being jeopardized. Exam papers are being leaked. We even wrote to the Chief Minister, but he has remained silent. During the assembly session, he did not speak on any issue,” Tejashwi added.
The RJD leader highlighted that in Bihar, people are distressed by poverty, unemployment, and migration. He further asserted that the Opposition wants to build a new Bihar with a “fresh vision” bringing people of all castes and religion together.
“Rising electricity bills are also a major concern. We have repeatedly said that if our government comes to power, we will provide 200 units of electricity free of cost. We aim to strengthen the organization, especially by engaging in dialogue with booth-level workers. By gathering their feedback, we can address the mistakes made in previous elections and work on improving them. Discussions are ongoing on these issues,” Tejashwi said.
“We want to bring people of all castes and religions together. Despite the presence of a so-called “double-engine government,” what has Bihar gained? Even the demand for special state status was denied. The Chief Minister’s yatra (tour) is about to begin, but our students wanted to have a dialogue with him. Unfortunately, he has no time for them. Are these not the people of Bihar? This yatra is merely a show. If we don’t stand with the students, who will?” he further added.
Notably, the Bihar Assembly elections will be held later next year. (ANI)
