Kalaburagi (Karnataka) [India], October 27 (ANI): In a search operation at the Kalaburgi Central Prison, the police recovered a smartphone, a basic handset and other contraband items.
Police Commissioner Sharanappa SD on Saturday said that four people had been taken into custody for further questioning on the same.

Speaking to ANI, the Commissioner said “A search was conducted at the Central Prison Kalaburgi and a smartphone, one basic handset and other contraband items were recovered. A case was taken and it was transferred to Central Crime Branch where four people have been taken into custody and are being questioned.”
Further, he revealed that the prison inmate to whom the supplies were being made was identified and would be taken into police custody.
“We have identified the prison inmate to whom they were supplying. We will be taking him into police custody as well,” he added.
The Commissioner added that it was found during the preliminary investigation that criminal elements were throwing contraband and other items into the prison compound.
“During the preliminary investigation, it was found that criminal elements were found throwing the contraband and other items in the prison compound. In that connection, two cases were solved.”
Sharanappa disclosed that the investigation resulted in the resolution of two cases from the years 2022 and 2024.
“One case in 2022, where two accused were arrested who had thrown three mobile handsets into the prison. In another case of this year, two more accused had been arrested and they had thrown one mobile phone, a China mobile handset, and eight packets of Ganja in prison,” he added.
Further investigation is on. (ANI)
