Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 18 (ANI): The water level of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers started decreasing gradually on Wednesday here but is still present in the settlements.
The floodwater has also left behind dirt and swamps along with algae which has been abundant in the settlements.

“There was a major flood here due to the heavy rains. The water is now reducing. The people have been in a lot of trouble because of the heavy rains this year,” said a villager.
Another villager said that the dirt and sludge caused by the floodwater has left no space for the villagers to walk.
“We have been facing a lot of issues. There is a lot of dirt that has accumulated in here and it has been causing a lot of problems. We are not able to walk out of here, we have no food, and the cleaning is being done at a very slow rate,” the villager said.
Earlier on Monday, the sudden increase in the water level in the rivers due to continuous rain in the hilly areas led to the Moradabad railway station underpass getting completely submerged and flooding in the nearby villages of Bhagatpur, Bhojpur and Munda Pandey.
The underpass built near the railway station was submerged with no access, due to which commuters faced issues.
Commuters were not able to use the underpass due to the high pressure of water that caused major waterlogging on the roads.
Meanwhile, water entered the settlements in the lower areas of Prayagraj, forcing people to evacuate their homes. Baghada, Salori and Rajapur were some of the worst affected areas.
At the same time in Ayodhya, the water level of the Saryu river crossed the danger mark in the hilly areas.
On Saturday, farmers grappled with major crop damage. Reports indicated that 60 per cent of sugarcane and 70 percent of paddy crops were affected due to adverse weather conditions. (ANI)
