Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India] August 7 (ANI): Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has called upon the representatives of all the Gram panchayats and bodies of the state to join the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign to make the upcoming Independence Day effective and memorable by linking it with environmental protection. In this regard, he has also written a letter to all the village heads.
In the letter, he said that 7,795 Gram panchayats, 95 area panchayats and 13 district panchayats have been constituted in our state. An effective concrete plan should be made to make the national festival on August 15, 2024, memorable and impressive. To promote environmental protection and deal with climate change, “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” should be run at every panchayat level on this day as a people-oriented campaign.
The CM said that during this, tree plantation should be done at Amrit Sarovar, other water sources, panchayat offices, schools, playgrounds, or other important public places. He said that to ensure Panchayati Raj institutions and public participation, an honorary nodal officer should be nominated at every Gramme Panchayat level, who can be the Pradhan or any other eminent person of that Panchayat and village-level personnel should also be authorised for the necessary support of the concerned.
The Chief Minister has also requested that the general public make their exemplary contribution in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by making the above activity a part of their annual action plan.
Earlier on Wednesday, The tree plantation campaign, “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” began across Rajasthan under the ‘Harialo Rajasthan’ initiative.
Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar inaugurated the Chief Minister’s Tree Plantation Mega Campaign organised by the district administration on the premises of the Women’s Polytechnic College in Jodhpur.
Addressing the people on the occasion, Madan Dilawar said, “We will plant trees every year so that we can stay healthy. We will create a tradition of planting trees so that the people of our society, state, and country can stay healthy. “I request everyone to plant more and more trees every year and try to increase the number. We will send a message to the whole world that when the country and the world are in danger, the people of Rajasthan will come forward and take the initiative,” the Education Minister said. (ANI)
