Kolhapur (Maharashtra) [India], July 27 (ANI): The Kolhapur District Administration has relocated 5,849 people from 1,379 families from flood-affected areas, with 5,116 people from the Karveer Tahsil alone, as the Panchaganga river continues to flow above the danger mark.
In a daily report issued by Disaster Management of Kolhapur District Administration, the danger level is 43′ but the Panchaganga River is flowing above the 46″ feet mark as of 11 pm on July 26.
The district administration has also started relocating people from the affected villages like Chikhli, Ambewadi Bhamate, and Haldi of Karveer Tahsil, which is the most affected one.
The administration has relocated 5116 people from Karvir Tehsil alone.
In total, 5,849 of 1,379 families have been relocated to safer places and around 3,080 domestic animals have also been taken to safe places by the administration.
Due to the flood situation, a total of 54 roads, including 10 state highways, are being closed for traffic movements.
The administration’s daily report also mentioned the partial damage to more than 200 houses. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported till now.
The Kolhapur District received 68 mm of rainfall on July 26.
The district has four major dams, namely Radhanagari, Dudhganga, Warna, and Tulasi.
On July 26, a total of 1,00,68 cusecs of water were released from the Radhanagari dam whereas 1,01,17 cusecs of water were released from the Warna dam and 1000 cusecs of water from Dudhganga were released.
Meanwhile, District Guardian Minister Hasan Mushrif earlier today held a review meeting with senior officials of the district administration and instructed them to give all possible help and support to the people.
He also appealed to the people not to panic in this situation, as all arrangements are in place.
“People must cooperate with officials in relocating themselves on time,” he said.
Mushrif also informed that one team of the NDRF is already working in the district and another team is on the way along with jawans of the Kolhapur District Relief Force (KDRF). (ANI)
