Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], September 26 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of “misleading” the public with false claims about assistance from the Centre for the 2025 disaster in the state.
“The BJP is running a misleading campaign to misguide the people. Neither did the state receive any special relief package for the revenue losses of 2023, nor has there been any ground implementation of the Rs 1,500 crore disaster relief announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after his visit to Himachal Pradesh this year. No notification has been issued so far about how or in what form that amount will be provided to the state government,” Negi told reporters at the State Secretariat on Thursday.
Negi pointed out that Himachal Pradesh has suffered losses of over Rs 5,000 crore due to the natural calamity this year, but no financial help has come from the Centre. He added that even during the 2022-23 disaster, when the state recorded a revenue loss of Rs 10,000 crore, the Centre did not extend any special support despite being fully briefed by the central survey team.
He underlined that the state government has continued the special relief package it had announced in 2023.
“If a house is completely damaged, the affected family will be given Rs 7 lakh. For partially damaged houses, Rs 1 lakh will be provided. Tenants whose rented houses are damaged will receive Rs 75,000. If silt or debris enters a house, the family will be given Rs 50,000. Farmers or horticulturists whose poly houses are damaged will be provided Rs 25,000, while those whose agricultural land is affected will get Rs 10,000. If crops are damaged, the state government will give Rs 4,000 per bigha,” Negi said.
He also informed that despite road damage during the disaster, around 2.40 crore apple boxes have been transported to markets so far. Under CIMS, about 67,000 metric tonnes of apples have been supplied to APMC and other marketing boards. (ANI)
