Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], May 14 (ANI): In a major event during the Bharatiya Janata Party’s nationwide Tiranga Yatra, Himachal Pradesh Assembly Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jairam Thakur led the flag march in Shimla on Wednesday to honour the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces and express solidarity with them.
Speaking to ANI during the rally, Jairam Thakur said, “This Tiranga Yatra gives a huge message that the people of Himachal and the entire nation stand firmly with our forces and PM Modi…”
Thakur praised the people of Devbhoomi Himachal Pradesh, saying they stood “like rocks with the soldiers of the country and with the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
He congratulated both the armed forces and the Prime Minister for the decisive action taken against terrorists.
He said, “After that incident in the first village, the Prime Minister said that the people who did this will get a bigger punishment than they imagined and that punishment was delivered on May 6th.”
He also said that nine terrorist locations in Pakistan and PoJK were destroyed within 25 minutes in the intervening night of May 6-7.
“Those locations were where terrorists were given refuge, were trained, and then sent to destroy the lives of innocent people,” Thakur said.
“The whole world has witnessed the catastrophe… and the whole world has sent one message to Pakistan that it is not your thing to fight with India. You apologise,” he added.
He added that Pakistan contacted the Director General of Military Operations, saying, “We have made a mistake and want to stop what happens next.’ But by that time, it was too late.”
He hailed PM Modi’s strong stance, stating, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has clearly stated that the war is not over. Only now has the war been stopped. If Pakistan dares again, it will get a befitting reply.”
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a nationwide Tiranga Yatra, a campaign to honour Indian soldiers, highlight the success of Operation Sindoor, and showcase the government’s strong response to Pakistan.
The Tiranga Yatra began on Tuesday and will continue until May 23. It was launched in Delhi with a symbolic march featuring a 108-foot national flag.
The yatra started at Kartavya Path and will conclude at the National War Memorial. Thousands of people including BJP workers, citizens, NGOs, RWAs, religious leaders, and social organisations joined to pay tribute to the armed forces.
Several senior leaders, including BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva and other party workers, joined Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in the yatra. (ANI)
