Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 30 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) Working President K T Rama Rao on Monday criticised the Musi River Rejuvenation Project, saying, “1 lakh people are about to be homeless,” mentioning the demolition that is going to take place.
KTR, resisting the project, alleged that CM Revanth Reddy “wants to earn money.”
“Today in Hyderabad, an atmosphere has set in near Musi river. Around 1 lakh people are about to be homeless. A team of the senior leaders of BRS is here in Hyderguda to understand their pain. We will then go to Kishanguda as well. We will go to Kishan Bagh too. We would like to ask one thing to Revanth Reddy government. You had said that you would implement 6 guarantees within 100 days. What happened to it?” KTR said
“We would want to warn Revanth Reddy government that you can do whatever you want. But BRS stands with the poor, the helpless. We will face your bulldozers, we will not let your plan to render people homeless go through…You will have to withdraw this proposal,” KTR added.
KTR further criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for advocating against ‘bulldozer raj’ saying, “is your policy different for Haryana & UP and something else for Telangana? Come to Hyderabad, to Moosa River and tell people about the conduct of Revanth Reddy.”
Earlier in the day, KTR called Musi River beautification project a ‘scam’.
“Instead of fulfilling your promises, you don’t have money for that. But you have 1,50,000 crores for the Musi project. The central government only spend 40,000 crores for the 2400 km Ganga river. But for Musi River, which is 54 km, 1.50 lakh crores is being spent. If this is not a scam, then what is this?” KTR said.
CM Revanth Reddy on Saturday announced that historic buildings located along the Musi River will be developed as the famous tourist spots.
The CM said that the government is committed to promoting the tourism sector along with making Telangana a welfare state.
The State Tourism Department signed an agreement with CII for the restoration of several ancient Stepwells in Hyderabad.
Speaking on this occasion, CM Revanth Reddy said, “The government has taken up the Musi Riverfront development project ambitiously.” The CM criticised the previous government for neglecting the numerous historical buildings, which have reached dilapidated condition in the city. (ANI)
